WCThe World Cup is FINALLY back!

After four long years of waiting, the World Cup kicks off this Friday, June 11th with the host country, South Africa, taking on our neighbors to the South, Mexico.

Now, I know many of you may be thinking.. “World Cup?”

Well, it’s time for a change! Americans have neglected the game of soccer for years, however the game has seen a recent increase in popularity. With an American squad coming off a strong qualifying season and beating some of the World’s top teams along the way, the U.S. is looking to make a statement in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The U.S. starts off the tournament against England, and with a favorable is looking to advance to the knockout round for the first time since 2002.

TulsaStaycations…I absolutely love and enjoy them. What’s a staycation? Well essentially a staycation is a vacation taken in town. I know it sounds a bit simple but it’s all about your mentality. It’s the idea of a vacation, the relaxation that relates to a vacation, it’s still a vacation. What’s better than having a vacation and still being able to go to your favorite places

Tulsa is quickly becoming a great place to have a staycation. Creekwood is central to a lot of places and you can visit, Oklahoma City in fact, but Tulsa is great too. Still confused about what to do on your staycation? Here’s are the rules!

1. Plan as if you’re still going on a regular vacation…three day weekends are best!
2. Book a hotel in town!
3. Pack your luggage…close up your house
4. Leave all your work behind and go on your staycation!
5. You’re still on a vacation…so relax and have fun!

Don’t get ripped off!

whitecarRecently I’ve been in the market for a car. My previous vehicle was leased and I was either looking to buy out my lease or purchase a new car. Now I am not a person who doesn’t do their research. I took the time to see what my car was being sold for and what I was actually willing to pay for the car.

I don’t know what it is but as soon as I walked into the door the salesmen of the car dealership (they will remain unnamed) thought they had me. They tried to offer me my car at a higher cost than it was actually worth. They wanted me to pay a higher bill monthly and for a longer period of time. They also told me I wouldn’t get a better deal at another dealership. I refused. I wasn’t going to be ripped off. Not to mention they were completely rude.

Want to know my solution? I got pre-approved for a car loan. Knowing I was approved with the car dealership gave me peace of mind. I knew I’d be approved with the bank! So I took the proper items (ID, pay stubs…etc.) and I went to the bank and filed for a car loan. With in minutes I was approved and I still had the option to buy out my lease or a new car. I’m buying a new car…at a different car dealership.

Personally I think being pre-approved is the best way to go! Here are some advantages when your pre-approved!

mother's dayMother’s Day is this Sunday and I have yet to get a gift, it’s getting harder and harder to get something for my mom. I’m pretty sure she has everything…This year I decided to take a step back into my child hood and make something for my mother. A scrapbook. I’m the youngest of three girls so I’m also involving my sisters. We’re getting together all of our pictures and we’re going to take the time to make a hand crafted gift for my mother.

I’m going to Michael’s Arts and Crafts store to get the scrapbook and decorative supplies. My sisters will be getting pictures together and printing them. It’ll be great for us to do this together and I’m sure my mother is going to love it!

What’s the Best Patio Furniture for You?

April 28, 2010 by Alicia
Filed under Apartment Living, Around Town

I’m gettin new patio furniture and I cannot tell you how excited I am. I love being outside on my patio, reading, doing puzzles, eating…just about anything. Before I’d always get my patio furniture from a second-hand shop but now that I’m outside so often I don’t see why not getting new furniture. I’ve been looking around and asking myself questions so I can narrow my selection more.

patioWhat material is best for me; wood, metal, wicker or resin?

Do I want cushions, is it (waterproof)?

Do I want large or small furniture?

Where do I want to get my furniture; Target, Wal-Mart, Lowes, or Home Depot?

Essentially everyone has to remember that their furniture (no matter where it goes) is for them. So what’s best for you when it comes to outdoor furniture.
